Audi has decided that regular old headlights that just let you see in the dark are for chumps and losers. That's right, real winners buy a car that has laser beams instead. Laser beams.
According to Audi, each headlight on its new 'R8 V10 plus exclusive edition' contains a single laser module that operates with four high intensity laser diodes, creating a blue laser beam with a wavelength of 450 nanometers. Before a phosphor converter transforms the blue laser beam into a bright and pure white light.
Or something like that.
Which is all well and good, but what we'd really like to know is whether these new super laser lights will allow you to eviscerate your enemies and send woodland creatures fleeing in blind fear.
That's what's important here.
If you just want to drive it, the Audi R8 V10 plus exclusive edition is very exclusive indeed, because there are only 25 being made and it will only be available in America at a cost of $229,200 (£183,00).
We're assuming because Americans love lasers.
Sounds about right.
