If there's one aspect of football that's more annoying than an international friendly on a Saturday, it's diving, and now the F.A is - finally - considering retrospectively banning those who simulate or feign injury.
According to The Times, the governing body is to send a team to Scotland on a very important fact-finding mission (cute), where retrospective bans for divers are already in place; with senior figures hoping that the same rules can be implemented in the Premier League and lower divisions.
Currently players can only be retrospectively banned for violent conduct, but if all English governing bodies agree, we could see infuriating dives stamped out of the game in the near future, which is bad news for Ashley Young, but great news for the rest of us.
Under current Football Association rules in England, players who dive should receive a caution for simulation, which comes under the category of unsporting behaviour, but only if the incident is spotted by the match officials during the game.
While we'd obviously love to see an end to diving, there have been some pretty funny ones over the years. Here are a few of our favourites... A lot of Manchester United players there.
Just an observation.
You've got to praise the creativity sometimes.
