Robin Van Persie Banned For Two Games After Celebrating In Front Of A Former Teammate

Fenerbahçe striker Robin Van Persie has been banned for two games after a controversial goal celebration against Beşiktaş in the Turkish Cup.

Van Persie had an early confrontation with former Arsenal teammate Oğuzhan Özyakup when the defender accused the Dutch international of unfair conduct in getting Beşiktaş' Duško Tošić sent-off.

So when the former Arsenal and Manchester United star put his team ahead, he couldn't help but slide right in front of Özyakup in celebration.

Turkish football fans were quick to lament Van Persie for what they considered unsportsmanlike conduct, and the Turkish FA suspended him for three games, which has been reduced to two on appeal.
