The Alexis Sanchez sags continues, with fresh reports that Arsenal's star player (sorry Ozil) is not only 'wants away' but has chosen his preferred destination.
Starsport claims the 28-year-old forward has fingered nascent Spanish side Sevilla as his preferred destination when summer finally arrives and he can leave Arsene Wenger's tragi-comic retirement tour for good.
Another baseless football rumour fabricated to fill back pages? Perhaps. But there is some credence to the story when you consider that Sevilla – who are sitting third in La Liga – are experiencing a transformation under Sanchez's former international boss Jorge Sampaoli.
With little in the way of concrete interest from any of Europe's top tier clubs, the Chilean may well see Sevilla as the ideal escape route from North London.
Still, if it is true, Arsenal fans will be forgiven for feeling a slight flush of shame that Sanchez is spurning them for a club that is, by any reasonable measure, smaller than their own.
