STARKpool Karaoke? Lane of Thrones? Unfortunately Apple's Carpool Karaoke took all of the good Game of Thrones puns to announce Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner's joint appearance on the upcoming series.

The actresses were attending the annual SXSW in Texas's Austin when they revealed the news in a brief clip posted on the show's Twitter page.

"Hey, it's Sophie and Maisie," Turner begins in the clip, before co-star Williams points out: "Or Maisie and Sophie..."

The on-screen sibling rivalry continues...

"And we're at South by South West," Turner declares.

"And we're about to do Carpool Karaoke for Apple Music," Williams adds.

The tweet was captioned:"STARKpool Karaoke? Lane of Thrones? and from are shooting a for !"

Apple's Carpool Karaoke is a spin-off on James Corden's Late Late Show's creation, and the new series will feature 16 celebrities paired up in a car together as they share their personal music playlists.

Sadly Corden won't be at the wheel or presiding over musical proceedings, but the stars taking part will be performing their very own renditions of their favourite hits while surprising fans and fellow motorists with their warbling on the road.

Turner and Williams also chaired a GoT event at SXSW, during which show-runners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss revealed super-fan Ed Sheeran will be providing a cameo in the upcoming series, and Season 8 will conclude with just six episodes.

Meanwhile, fans were left speculating over the fate of Turner's Sansa Stark as the 21-year-old X-Men: Apocalypse star was sporting her natural blonde hair, instead of Stark's trademark red locks.

Williams joked at the event: "She's dead."

Benioff then quipped: "Don't worry, they [the panel] won't tell anyone."

At least, we think they were joking...

Game of Thrones returns for season seven on Sunday, 16 July – airing on HBO in the US. UK viewers will be able to watch on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV.
