Following a particularly emotional goodbye from teammate Lionel Messi and undoubtedly a couple of adios cervezas, Neymar has left Barcelona in a world record tranfer fee to Paris Saint-Germain.
Whilst some details of surrounding the eye-watering €222 million transfer are known - like the fact Neymar stormed out of a Barc training session - his exact reason for leaving arguably the best club side in the world have remained unclear until now.
In a statement on the PSG website, the striker went some way to explain his decision and cited
being made rich beyond his wildest dreams winning silverware and the club's ambition.
His statement read, "I am extremely happy to join Paris Saint-Germain. Since I arrived in Europe, the club has always been one of the most competitive and most ambitious. And the biggest challenge, what most motivated me to join my new teammates is to help the club to conquer the titles that their fans want. Paris Saint-Germain's ambition attracted me to the club, along with the passion and the energy this brings."
He added, "I played 4 seasons in Europe and I feel ready to take the challenge. From today, I will do everything I can to help my new teammates, to open up new horizons for my club and to bring happiness to its millions of supporters around the world."
He's locked in there until 2022, so here's hoping that passion doesn't die.
