Arsenal may be in the process of selling off their entire squad to Premier League rivals on the last day of the transfer window, but according to reports they have no plans to replace them.

BBC reporter David Ornstein revealed on Twitter that the Gunners lack the necessary funds to bring in a suitable replacement for Liverpool-bound Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, or bring in any big names to bolster their unconvincing squad.

He tweeted: "Arsenal have no plans to replace AOC & no money for major signings, but only way Sanchez leaves is if #AFC get massive money & replacement."

Needless to say, Gunners fans are baffled by the claim. It was previously reported that Arsenal had up to £150 million (from their infamous "war chest") to spend this summer, and the club have actually made a profit in their transfer dealings so far.

Supporters will no doubt take comfort in the fact that Arsenal are playing hard ball over Alexis Sanchez – that is, unless City or PSG come in with a huge offer, and Theo Walcott is tasked with replacing the stroppy Chilean.

Hold on to your chairs Arsenal fans – it's going to be a stressful day.
