New York electric guitar wielders Ratatat first careered onto the scene back in 2001 under the moniker "Cherry". The title was quickly transfered to the header of Ratatat's best track to date, the swollen melodies of which quickly had us enwrapped. Following a few wintry years, Ratatat this month release their latest album, 'LP4'.
Mercifully, it seems the scratchy, apparently circus-inspired mid-noughties are well and truly behind them and following a close few listenings, 'LP4' left us with a cherry red flavour on tongue. The first single from the album, "Party with Children" features the reverb-heavy guitar swoops and up-tempo rhythms we've come to expect from the troupe, while maintaining that all-important element of self-assured silliness. And we just can't help but love it.
As a gesture of pre-humpday good will, we also thought we'd throw in "Cherry", our favourite Ratatat song to date. It's a blissful, expansive piece of electronic wonderment and we urge you to see it through.
