GTA V Photography: Better Than Real Life

Gorgeous landscapes that confirm you never need to go outside again

As much fun as it is robbing banks, beating strangers to death in the street and being chased by the police before destroying one of their helicopters with a grenade launcher, sometimes, in GTA V as in life, it's good to stop and smell the roses – particularly when the game's vast, sumptuous landscapes look as good as this.

Sunshine slinking over gentle tides, stags sniffing dew-tipped dawns and more moody moons than you could shake an uzi at fill this Flickr page of Los Santos and Blaine County photography, all taken by users on the in-game camera phone.

It's enough to break a thousand hipster hearts – and proof, as if any more were needed, that computer games are now officially more beautiful than anything in your real life. Enjoy.

The Flickr group was started by photographer Phil Rose, who explained how he was travelling through lots of the locations that inspired GTA 5's world shortly before the game's release, including The Salton Sea, Joshua Tree, East Jesus and Slab City.

He soon found plenty of kindred spirits who preferred the game's more romantic scenes to the "dead deer, selfies and crotch shots which litter the Rockstar Social site."

He added: "I love the blending of real life and online and only wish 'real' SLR style cameras were available in the game. Oh, for camera shops to rival the gun shops! Depth of field, long exposures, graduated tobacco colored filters! I want it all."

After taking in these shots, we're almost inclined to agree.
