In addition to broadcasting feats of sporting excellence, the Olympics has also given us occasion to LOL. Last night saw another one, as BBC presenter Dan Walker was forced to suppress giggles as a couple on the beach behind him appeared to be getting it on.

Naturally, Twitter users chimed in to point out the compromising position the two were in, which lead Dan to respond, "And for those asking about what's going on in the background on social media now – we're not gonna zoom in, but rest assured, it's not that… it's just a hug...They're reading a book, apparently they're reading a book in a strange pose."

It isn't the first time Walker has been faced with the perils of live TV at this Olympics - a few days ago his studio was invaded by a drunken hen party.

Very cool under pressure, Dan. Hats off to you.
