Set in 2010, Emmit is described as the "Parking Lot King of Minnesota, who sees himself as an American success story." While Ray is a "balding and pot-bellied parole officer with a huge chip on his shoulder about the hand he's been dealt."

Speaking about the challenge of the role[s], McGregor told Digital Spy in a recent interview: "I'm playing two brothers so it involves quite a bit of prosthetics and make-up. They look very different, they're not twins. By playing them, I've have to find their voices which has been a challenge, but I've really enjoyed that."

McGregor will be joined by Carrie Coon (The Leftovers), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (10 Cloverfield Lane) and David Thewlis (Harry Potter.) While another Hollywood "big hitter" is also rumoured to be joining the cast.

Fargo Season 3 Will air on Channel 4 from 19 April.
