The clinking of glasses and rising murmur of conversation outside the Esquire office windows means only one thing: Friday night in sunny Soho, and the pubs runneth over.
We can’t wait to join in, but once the customary pints have been polished off and staffers scatter to the four corners of the city, it would be churlish not to open a bottle of something tasty to toast the weekend.
For tonight, may we suggest this decent “barbecue” wine from Chile that will stand up to alfresco drinking marvellously. It has a decent pedigree (the winery is award-winning), and you can expect a robust chardonnay, with lovely creamy white fruit. £8 at Sainsbury’s. www.sainsburys.co.uk
