Once you've added up the flights, hotel, transfers and endless books for the airplane that you ignore in favour of Candy Crush, you're faced with quite a hefty sum - which is why it would be useful to know when in the year the best time to book cheap flights is.

And thanks to Opodo, we now know exactly that, after the flight comparison website calculated the best day and month to save the most money on flights. They did so by comparing the average flight price of return flights from the UK to all destinations purchased between November 2015 and October 2016.
