The long advent of the new iPhone and iOS 10 is finally drawing to a close, with Apple releasing their new operating system tomorrow. The company announced earlier this year it would be the biggest update to their mobile operating system yet, so here are some of the best new features to look out for.

No more unlocking every five minutes

The 'raise to wake' feature is one of the biggest changes, this means the phone screen unlocks without you even having to press down on the home button. This is done by a motion detector that means you can check the time and notifications instantly but still keep your phone secure. The feature can be switched on and off in settings.

Messages can do so much more

Your apps can now be integrated into your messaging system meaning you can control things like ordering your dinner or booking a restaurant without leaving the Messaging app. You can also see previews for links when sent in messages as they have been changed to show 'rich media'

Messages can also be animated to send fireballs, heartbeats and special happy birthday or congratulations images. Much like on Snapchat you can now draw over videos and add stickers to your message thread.

The message bubbles are even getting a makeover, they can be animated larger as though shouting or made small as though whispering so your conversation feels more human (though you are still on your phone.)

You can send messages in your handwriting and these will be animated and read "just as ink flows on paper" according to Apple.

Most excitingly of all, iOS 10 will have an invisible ink feature meaning you can send a message or photo that remains hidden until the recipient swipes to reveal the content. It has been critised for encouraging cheating though more likely will be used for sending pictures of Harambe or selfies.

Transcribe the endless voicemails from your mum

Nobody likes listening to voicemails from your landlord or parents, the new iOS means you can get a full transcription of the messages into the Voicemail app without having to spend the time listening to it.

Pay instantly on the internet

The new Pay on the web feature will let you pay for goods through apps and browsers. It will still integrate Apple Pay and need fingerprint authentication but will be rolled out to different apps and easier to use.

Remove those default apps you hate

Finally you don't need to stare at the stocks or iBooks apps any longer should you not wish to. Apple are giving you the choice to remove pre-installed stock apps from every iPhone in order to make the system more personalised and customisable.

Karaoke wherever you go

Apple is now giving you the option of lyrics in the Apple Music app, you can maximise tracks whilst playing so that the lyrics scroll down as it plays. Hopefully this doesn't encourage singing with headphones in in public places.

Search your photos

You can search your photo albums by people tagged in the images or objects in them, iOS 10 will also let you narrow down your search by date or place. You need never search high and low for that perfect sunrise #TBT again.

The new Photos app will also transform your photos into montage films like on Facebook.

Emojis are taking over

Text prediction will now include emojis, typing 'burger' will produce a little quarter pounder option to pop into your text without having to swap keyboards. Users will also be able to swap any words for emojis related to that phrase once finished with the messages.

As in WhatsApp emojis will be sent in their own line of a message and 3 times bigger.

Bilingual keyboards detect different languages

The new keyboard detects if you're attempting French or Spanish and switches over to that language. No more autocorrect hell whilst trying to sign off Bon Jour.

So more time on our phones!  You can download iOS 10 here from tomorrow.
