While we're all glad that the Hobbit movies are finally over, a part of us is sad that we'll never see Sir Ian McKellen don the robes and staff of Gandalf the Grey/White again.

Well, just like after his battle with the Balrog, Gandalf is going to rise again (again).

McKellen has announced that he is reviving his role of the famous wizard, along with some classic theatre reprisals, for a one-man show at Park Theatre called Shakespeare, Tolkien, Others & You.

Audiences will get to ask the legendary actor questions and participate in the show.

The caveat is that it will only run for nine performances, from 3 July to 9 July - but there's a good reason for that.

McKellen said: "I'm performing at Park Theatre to help raise funds for the charity. In a short time the theatre has established itself on both the theatrical and local maps.

"But with no public subsidy for core costs they need to bring in donations of around £250,000 every year just to keep the doors open.

"The monies raised from the higher ticket prices for this production will support their core ambition of producing accessible theatre throughout the coming years and furthering their work with the local community.

"A number of £10 seats will also be available on the day. I do hope you'll support this wonderful cause."

Tickets run from the £10 on-the-day seats to £95, with bonus packages including dinner and drinks with the man himself!
