A BBC cameraman's foot was run over by Jeremy Corbyn's car in a day that's not gone to plan for Labour.

The party leader was arriving at the Institution of Engineering and Technology in London for a party meeting about the draft general election manifesto.

But the arrival wasn't smooth for Giles Wooltorton who ended up having to be taken to hospital after the car carrying Corbyn ran over his foot. He was, however, said to be in good spirits as he waited for the ambulance.

"An experienced BBC cameraman has been injured while filming at the Labour Party manifesto meeting," the broadcaster said in a statement (via BBC News).

"He has been taken to hospital for assessment and treatment. At the moment the BBC are focusing on their duty of care, making sure that he is OK."

In an extra twist, a picture was making the rounds on Twitter of Corbyn looking behind him as he arrived, although not necessarily because of the incident involving the cameraman.

People on Twitter started to joke that the person sitting next to the Labour leader looked a bit like Tom Cruise.
