Elon Musk, the incumbent Governor of All Things That Go Fast, is skeptical about the future of artificial intelligence. Most recently, he warned that without proper regulation, "AI is a fundamental risk to the existence of human civilisation."

Mark Zuckerberg, the longstanding Facebook God who might be gunning for President of the United States, disagrees. In fact, he's "optimistic." During a Facebook Live this weekend, a commenter asked him about AI, referencing Musk. Zuckerberg replied: "I think people who are naysayers and try to drum up these doomsday scenarios—I just, I don't understand it. It's really negative, and in some ways I actually think it is pretty irresponsible."

"Pretty irresponsible," coming from the man whose platform pumped out can't figure out how to correctly censor inappropriate or violent content. Anyway.

Early Tuesday morning, Darren Cunningham, a marketing VP for New Relic in Silicon Valley, tweeted out a link to Zuck's response:

Ouch. That's a cold-hearted dig right at Zuckerberg's, ahem, intelligence.

Musk also made a promise:

Honestly, a debate on the real-life consequences of advanced technology is refreshing, even if it is online. There are worse assholes to follow on Twitter.
