A variety of "white supremacist acts" have been removed from Spotify that are deemed as being racist or inciting hatred against minorities.
The streaming service has stated that a review of acts which have been flagged as "hate bands" is underway, with many bands already removed from the platform.
"Illegal content or material that favours hatred or incites violence against race, religion, sexuality or the like is not tolerated by us," a Spotify spokesperson told Billboard.
"Spotify takes immediate action to remove any such material as soon as it has been brought to our attention."
She continued: "We are glad to have been alerted to this content – and have already removed many of the bands identified today, whilst urgently reviewing the remainder."
The move comes after the shocking scenes in Charlottesville, Virginia, last week where a white-supermacist rally resulted in the death of one woman.
An article entitled 'I Just Found 37 White Supremacist Hate bands On Spotify' surfaced in the aftermath of the protests, with bosses at the streaming service hastening to disassociate themselves with any such acts.
Spotify also pointed out that the music on the platform is sourced from many record companies who are "at first hand responsible" for such content.
While efforts are being made to catch those responsible and many are condemning Donald Trump's response to the violence, Spotify is aiming to remove any music that could be seen as supporting white supremacism.
