Piers Morgan once enjoyed a night partying at the Playboy Mansion – but ended up breaking Hugh Hefner's 'Golden Rule'.
At the time, he was living in Los Angeles, hosting America's Got Talent, when he received an invitation from Hugh Hefner to attend his famous Midsummer Night's Dream party.
His AGT co-star David Hasselhoff was also on the guestlist that evening, and was hoping they could go together.
When Piers explained he had another plus one in mind, the Baywatch star was apparently not very impressed.
Recalling what happened on Good Morning Britain, Piers said: "All I remember is David Hasselhoff saying to me, 'Hey man, are you going to the Midsummer Night's Dream party at the Playboy Mansion?' and I said, 'Yeah'.
"He went, 'Really, great, come on let's go'. And I said 'Actually I'm taking my fiancée, now wife, and he went, 'What?! You've forgotten the golden rule of the mansion – you never take sand to the beach!'"
Revealing what the party was like inside, Piers claimed about 1,000 people attended and there was a "skimpy" dress code, with most people either "naked or semi-naked".
"Paris Hilton arrived wearing Agent Provocateur – only Agent Provocateur," he said.
The presenter himself opted to wear stripy trousers and a shirt to the star-studded party. However, his casual approach didn't sit well with staff working at the mansion and he was ordered to change and put on a robe.
"When we got in, we were led into this little tent where Hefner was surrounded by about 20 Playmates and it was extraordinary," Piers continued.
"I remember the grotto was in the middle of a sea of caves in a fake lake. My now wife went for a swim in the grotto, which in hindsight, was probably not a good idea!"
Hefner passed away on 27 September, 2017 at the age of 91.
Remembering what kind of character he was, Piers added: "He was such an interesting person, whether you liked what he stood for or didn't.
"On one hand he exploited women, but in his earlier years, he was a trailblazer for women's rights, gay rights and racial equality when it was really not the trendy thing to do."
Hollywood director Brett Ratner has confirmed plans to make a film about Hefner's life to remember his legacy – and Oscar winner Jared Leto is set to star as the Playboy founder.
