Numerous high-profile names from around the world have praised the Bill Cosby guilty verdict. The comedian was yesterday convicted of drugging and molesting a woman in 2004. He now faces between 15 and 20 years in prison.

Cosby - who claimed to have acted consensually - was convicted on three charges of aggravated indecent assault.

“We are so happy that finally we can say, women are believed, and not only in a hashtag ‘#MeToo’, but also in a court of law,” said Gloria Allred, the lawyer who represented many of Cosby's accusers. “After all is said and done, women were finally believed, and we thank the jury for that.”

Rose McGowan, who has been instrumental in exposing Harvey Weinstein, said she was "profoundly happy" about the verdict, adding that "his victims can now exhale."

Jessica Chastain, Elizabeth Banks and Susan Sarandon all praised the verdict.

The Time's Up movement, which is banked by stars including Oprah, Natalie Portman and Michelle Williams, shared a statement on Instagram, expressing gratitude to the "brave women" who fought "in their pursuit for justice".
