There’s been a lot of confusion over Tenet, but it’s hard to know just how much of that is by design. After all, one of the key lines in film – one of the few lines you can really hear, in all honesty – is essentially a directive to the audience: “Don’t try to understand it. Feel it”

It’s easy to get stranded in all of the bangs and wallops, all the Very Serious talk about time corridors, artefacts, inverted entropy and algorithms. If you’re not careful it can leave you in the dust. Wait, who’s that guy? Why is John David Washington doing so many pull-ups? HOW DID THEY GET TO ITALY?

You could go back and watch it again. Or, if you really want to give yourself a chance to understand Christopher Nolan’s time-twisting story, you could buy the screenplay, which is set to be released on the 10 September. You can pre-order it on Amazon here.

Titled 'Merry-Go-Round', it was originally set for release on 27 August but was delayed alongside the film. Many viewers have called for the release of subtitled version of the film in cinemas, but owning the script feels like a far more realistic option.
