Chris Pratt warned us earlier this week that Jurassic World 2 will be "darker" and "scarier" than its predecessor – but at least we'll have Jeff Goldblum around when then things get ugly.
The legendary actor, who of course starred in 1993's Jurassic Park and 1997's The Lost World: Jurassic Park, has signed up to appear in the sequel to the blockbuster reboot (via The Hollywood Reporter).
There isn't much else we know about Goldblum's role at this point, but we can only presume he'll reprise the part of mathematician Dr Ian Malcolm from the first two movies. After all, he managed to survive them both.
Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are also returning for the follow-up, which also stars Justice Smith, James Cromwell and Toby Jones. Jurassic World's Colin Trevorrow isn't directing – that's J.A. Bayona's (A Monster Calls) job – but Trevorrow did write the script with Derek Connolly.
Jurassic World took $1.67 billion worldwide in 2015 – a figure so impressive, it's the fourth-highest-grossing movie in history.
As for Goldblum, he has a busy year ahead. As well as Jurassic World 2, he's soon to be joining the Marvel Universe in Thor: Ragnarok as Grandmaster – hitting cinemas this October. He's also reuniting with The Grand Budapest Hotel director Wes Anderson on his upcoming film Isle of Dogs.
