The franchise's long-time romantic lead makes his return in the upcoming sequel, which introduces the son (Brenton Thwaites) of his swashbuckling hero Will Turner.

A previous teaser included a brief peek at Will looking worse for wear with a heavily-barnacled face thanks to his years captaining the Flying Dutchman ghost ship, but Disney has kept the extent of his comeback close to its chest.

Disney might therefore be slightly ticked off that Orlando has given away when he'll cameo in Pirates of the Caribbean 5 and how Will fits into the storyline.

"I think that the consensus would be that the first movie was the movie beloved [from] that franchise," Orlando admitted on The One Show on Wednesday (April 26). "They've sort of taken that narrative back for this movie.

"They've kind of gone back to that old style and it's great. I saw the film, I have a cameo in the movie. I have a little bit in the beginning and a little bit at the end. I send my son off onto a journey.

"But it's fantastic entertainment. Johnny's doing what he does best so it's Pirates movies at their best, really."

The One Show's Angela Scanlon also informed a seemingly-shocked Orlando that a recent international trailer revealed his long-time co-star Keira Knightley will appear in Pirates 5 too.

"Ooh, is that news hot off the press?" Orlando wondered. "She might make an appearance! Who knows?"
