It looks like Dolph Lundgren is officially making a comeback as Ivan Drago in the Creed sequel.

The Expendables favourite confirmed the news in an Instagram post – and he's seemingly back in training for the upcoming Rocky spin-off.

"Getting ready for something big! ? @officialslystallone #Creed2#IvanDrago," Dolph wrote alongside a video of him doing some heavy lifting.

Sylvester Stallone has already been teasing us with the possibility of Drago, Rocky IV's super-villain, returning in Creed 2.

And, earlier this month, Sly took it one step further by hinting that Rocky and Drago may go head-to-head again in the sequel.

Rocky fans will recall the showdown from Rocky IV where Rocky tried to avenge Creed (Carl Weathers), who died at the hands of Drago...

Well, it looks likely that Creed 2 will follow Adonis Creed (Michael B Jordan) as he tries to avenge his father's death – with Sly possibly throwing a few punches himself.

"You know I gotta hit Drago once," Sly told TMZ Sports.

It's not the first time that a possible Drago connection has been talked about for Creed 2, either. Last year, Jordan said that the only thing missing from Creed was that it didn't have a "true villain".

"I think Adonis was in a fight with himself most of the time. Ivan Drago, something like that," he explained. "Tom Hardy's pretty badass. Just saying – that would be nice."

Creed 2 is expected to be released in cinemas in 2018.
