Kirsten Dunst has revealed that she got high by mistake while filming her new movie Woodshock.

Appearing on last night's (September 19) Jimmy Kimmel Live, Kirsten recalled how she was sent home after she actually smoked weed, instead of "movie pot", as she was doing one scene of the trippy thriller.

"In the movie, I don't smoke that many, but when you're doing takes, you're doing one after the next after the next," Kirsten revealed.

"I wasn't eating that much at the time and so after we were done with the scene, I went back to this little bedroom to rest and I started to feel like I was losing my mind. I went to the bathroom, I'm pacing."

Kirsten added that she told the movie's co-director, Laura Mulleavy, that there was something wrong with her – "I'm shaking, I'm hot, I'm just flipping out" – leading one of the producers to investigate further.

He came back and revealed that one of the takes had seen her smoke a "full blunt" instead of a fake one.

"We're talking about Humboldt weed. I don't smoke full joints, this is like strong shit. I was crying, laughing, eating a peanut butter sandwich. I couldn't film anymore. They sent me home," Kirsten continued.

"I've never been that stoned in my entire life. And to not know you're that stoned, that's a mind trip."

Earlier this year, Kirsten revealed that she almost gave up acting for good as she "wasn't sure if I really wanted to do this anymore".

Woodshock is released in US cinemas on Friday. No UK release date has been set.
