Scott Eastwood has spoken up about his dream role, and it's a pretty mighty character to aspire to – Wolverine.

"Weapon X," Eastwood told ComicBook when asked which superhero he'd most like to play. "I mean, Logan! You gotta give it to Wolverine! Wolverine, all day."

Logan was, of course, played by Hugh Jackman until very recently. First appearing as Wolverine in X-Men in 2000, Jackman went on to reprise the role in now fewer-than-seven follow-up movies, but bowed out from the Marvel franchise after Logan was released earlier this year.

There's been a lot of talk about the future of Wolverine since Jackman's departure, from Bryan Singer saying he couldn't imagine anyone else playing the part to the suggestion of a female Wolverine (hey, it seems to be working for Doctor Who) and Marvel's reiteration that it's currently focusing its energies on new characters and stories. Plus, of course, news that Tom Hardy was once considered for the role.

preview for Pacific Rim: Uprising

But we can't blame Eastwood for eyeing up this particular role. Besides, he's no stranger to fantastical stories or action movies, as his most recent part in Pacific Rim: Uprising will show when it debuts in cinemas early next year.

Plus, coming from action-movie royalty with his dad Clint Eastwood, we're sure Scott would be able to have a decent stab at the famous Marvel superhero. Now we just need Marvel to get around to a reboot.
