Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom's first trailer is finally here after a week of hype, and it's just as ferocious as diehard fans expected.

The latest instalment of the Jurassic Park series returns to Isla Nublar, where the T-Rex, raptors and all of the other dinosaurs recreated by InGen have had free roam since the disastrous close of Jurassic World.

But when the eruption of a volcano on the island threatens to wipe out all of its living species, it's up to ex-park manager Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard), raptor trainer Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) and their Dinosaur Protection Group to spearhead an evacuation of Isla Nublar.

The Dinosaur Protection Group does have help from someone who knows a thing or two about the Jurassic Park created by Dr John Hammond — that's right, Jeff Goldblum returns as Dr. Ian Malcolm.

Ian is briefly shown revisiting a classic line from Jurassic Park while speaking before a US congressional panel debating whether to preserve the dinosaurs of Isla Nublar, or let them die off.

"These creatures were here before us, and if we're not careful, they're going to be here after... Life cannot be contained. Life breaks free. Life finds a way."

Fans aren't the only ones excited to see Jeff Goldblum as part of the franchise again, according to recent interviews with the creative team working on Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

"I had to overcome the impact of being in front of Ian Malcolm," director J.A. Bayona admitted in a behind-the-scenes video released yesterday. "After so many years, Jeff Goldblum was in front of a camera again talking about dinosaurs!"

Producer Colin Trevorrow seems just as thrilled to welcome Jeff Goldblum back to the fold, having singled the actor out as the highlight of making Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

"Maybe one of my highlights of this whole process is Goldblum," he recently beamed. "Jeff Goldblum called me – and I'm not going to do an impression – but he was like, 'Look, I've added a couple of things, and I thought I'd perform it for you'.

"So, we sat on the phone for an hour as he ran these lines, and I talked about it. And, I mean – it was almost better than being there on set. It was great."
