He did play an evil 19th-century doctor, a nasty landlord and a London-Irish gangster in Cloud Atlas, but they were three small cameos among his six roles in the same film, so we're not counting them. The closest Hanks got to playing a proper villain was in 2002's Road to Perdition but we were all rooting for the mobster on the run.
