Some people watch Stranger Things for the '80s nostalgia. Others tune in for their horror fix, or even their obsessive love for Eggos. But we imagine the largest attraction for most is Steve Harrington's effervescent hair.

Steve's stick-uppy, flippy-over hairstyle is the stuff '80s popstars and Hollywood mega-stars could only dream of back in the day — heck, it's probably solely responsible for defeating that demogorgon horde in season two.

But we have some bad news. Steve's luscious, enviable locks may soon be a thing of the past, depending on how next month's Golden Globe Awards play out in Los Angeles.

The actor who plays Steve, Joe Keery, made a potentially terrifying wager this week in order to help co-star David Harbour win the Supporting Actor Award at the Globes.

The startling turn of events took place on Harbour's Instagram, after he acknowledged his Globe nomination by writing: "I tip my hat to you @goldenglobes for the nomination. My Christmas present came early this year. You got me feeling all the holiday feels🎉🎁"

In the comments, Joe Keery chimed in with an offer: "If you win David, [Stranger Things writers the] Duffer's get to shave my head (sic)."

His offer was met with horror — one fan rather succinctly exclaimed, "NO!" — and others wondered if Joe was actually serious. To be safe, we imagine there will be a lot of campaigning for David Harbour's fellow nominees Alfred Molina (Feud: Bette and Joan), Alexander Skarsgård (Big Little Lies), Christian Slater (Mr. Robot) and David Thewlis (Fargo).

(Joe Keery already tested out a wizarding hair makeover for Halloween)

If worse does come to worse and Joe Keery goes bald, he'll probably have plenty of time in order to grow out his trademark quiff once again.

Earlier this week, David Harbour himself revealed that Stranger Things probably won't return to Netflix for its third season until 2019. In the meantime, enjoy watching Joe Keery talk A LOT about his hair:
