Somehow Channel 4 contrived to air Gordon Ramsay's predictably sweary show at 11am – and it's sparked an Ofcom investigation.

Ramsay's Hotel Hell had 19 complaints after viewers heard Gordon say "f**k" a total of six times. It was pulled off air after 15 minutes and replaced with Kirstie Allsopp's wholesome, quaint craft programme, Kirstie's Handmade Britain.

A Channel 4 spokesperson said: "Ramsay's Hotel Hell is routinely edited for daytime repeat transmission, however due to an error the first part of the wrong version of this programme was aired this morning.

"The programme was quickly removed from the schedule and the continuity announcer apologised to viewers."

Another spokesperson added: "Due to human error the first part of an unedited version of the programme was aired pre-watershed.

"We are responding to Ofcom as part of their investigation."

An Ofcom spokesperson confirmed: "We're investigating the use of the most offensive language before the watershed."
