Game of Thrones has so many fan theories floating around that we've already started to lose track.

No character has more surrounding them than Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead-Wright), thanks to his very mysterious role as the Three-Eyed Raven.

However, lost among all the Night King and Bran the Builder theories, there's one that suggests Bran is the previous Three-Eyed Raven (Max Von Sydow), who is actually him as an older man.

If you remember, his incarnation of the character was killed off in season six after a raid by White Walkers, leaving Bran to take up the mantle.

Yet the theory posits that his predecessor is really him (just with many, many more years under his belt) – after all, there are hints, such as when older-Raven tells Bran that it is time for him "to become me".

One person that is totally on board with that idea is Jojen Reed actor Thomas Brodie-Sangster – who was killed off a few seasons back – and we would take his word seriously. After all, he did travel with Bran for a few seasons.

"Yeah, I kind of went with that one," he told HuffPost. "I like the theory of multiverses and different parallel universes working together in time. I just quite like that theory. I went with that and like the idea of that.

"You got to be careful you don't lose people ― what people love about a certain show. But, like I said, I like all that."

Bran actor Isaac Hempstead-Wright is also behind this idea, previously telling Nerdist: "It seems a little bit more plausible [than the Night King theory] and it doesn't have so many insane ramifications for the storyline. That would be quite a neat little thing that would sum up that whole circular arc."

However, don't count on Jojen coming back as a White Walker anytime soon, as Thomas revealed there had been no contact from the show.

"I quite like the idea of that as well, like kind of come back like an Obi-Wan spirit, kind of cool," he continued. "No, I haven't heard anything from HBO."

We will return to Westeros for one final season of Game of Thrones in 2019, though we are yet to get an air date – that one Maisie Williams appeared to leak was fake, apparently.

Game of Thrones airs on HBO in the US and Sky Atlantic in the UK.
