Warning: Potential spoilers for Game of Thrones season 8.

Game of Thrones season 8 might be over a year away, but a little bird has brought new information about a potentially dark ending for King's Landing.

You might remember Cersei spending her time having a map room painted – in-between turning to an all-black wardrobe and forming a 'fake' truce with Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen.

During the DVD commentary for season 7, fan site Winter Is Coming spotted that the show's creators David Benioff and Dan Weiss specifically requested the ceiling remain open in her map room.

VFX producer Steve Kullback said: "[They] asked us to make [the map room] an exterior location in an upcoming episode, but I can't tell you why... but that'll pay off."

But why could that be? Well, not so Cersei gets a gentle bronzing tan while plotting what to do with her band of hired soldiers, The Golden Company.

No, it could be setting up a scene where a dragon flies over King's Landing as seen in Bran's premonition from season 4.

But it might not be Daenerys with her currently living dragons, but instead The Night King who adopted Viserion into his undead horde and might be set to burn the map of Westeros before he burns the whole place for real.

The theory would also tie into Daenerys' vision from season 2, which saw her walk into the throne room only to realise it's been burnt to a crisp. This is also supported by some recent images that leaked from the set.

If the Night King does head for Westeros, then there's a strong chance Cersei will end up as his Night Queen, which could also give Jaime a pretty solid reason – as if he didn't have one already – to kill her, and fulfil another premonition.
