It's ten years since Walter White got what was coming to him... but whatever happened to his long-suffering partner-in crime, Jesse Pinkman?

Aaron Paul's character on Breaking Bad was last seen fleeing a Nazi compound where he'd been held captive, laughing and crying hysterically.

Speaking to Digital Spy and other press, series creator Vince Gilligan said he hopes Jesse escaped and started a new life. "There could have been police right around the next corner," Gilligan said. "Or there could have been an unfettered, free future for him.

"I personally would like to think he got away, because he paid his dues tenfold. I like to believe he got away.

"I don't really know in terms of what he should be doing as a career. I just hope he would get away, and meet somebody nice, and not be a criminal anymore and not face those horrors that he faced. I always liked that character. I always had a soft spot for him."

Of course, it's up to Gilligan whether we ever find out for certain what happened to Jesse. Possibly in the 'present-day' scenes on Breaking Bad spin-off Better Call Saul?

"You never know if that character may get revisited in the future," he hinted. "Anything's possible."

Paul has previously stated his willingness to reprise Jesse on Better Call Saul."Hopefully I will be involved but I don't know when that may be," he told Variety in 2016.

"I'm not going to say anything more. But I'm absolutely open to the idea. Hopefully it happens. I'm all about it."
