Ricky Gervais has addressed speculation that he has fallen out with The Office co-writer Stephen Merchant and An Idiot Abroad's Karl Pilkington.

The trio have collaborated with great success in the past, rising to prominence on The Ricky Gervais Show, though have been subject to rumours that they no longer get on.

That's largely because they haven't worked together much in the last few years, notably on David Brent movie Life on the Road.

"I purposely don't answer [the rumours] because it annoys them," Gervais told NME when pressed on all the chatter.

"But no no no, I haven't. I've always been doing my own thing, and now they are as well. It's not a divorce thing."

He then joked about who would hypothetically keep Pilkington in a divorce: "Oh, I would. In a little cupboard."

The comedian previously told Digital Spy that Life on the Road would likely be the last outing for the character, explaining in 2016: "[Bringing him back] as a huge big project – a series of David Brent, or The Office, or another movie? Probably not."
