"Epic" and "Bittersweet" are the words that Joe Dempsie and Jacob Anderson carefully choose to summarise the final season of Game of Thrones. It's a shame that the two characters didn't share more scenes during the show as the pair who play Gendry and Grey Worm on the HBO series have a very fun rapport with one another.

Esquire sat down with them to talk about which character they'd least like to fight how they'd summarise the final season.

Dempsie picked Arya Stark as the character he's least like to duel to the death for "multiple reasons" he laughs, before adding, "the things she's seen". While he may be referring to Arya's bloody trail of murder which includes taking down the Night King, it could also be a nod to the night of passion she shared with Gendry. Not exactly the ideal sparring partner.

For Anderson there was one character on his mind and that was Drogon. "I wouldn't wanna fight him," he said solemnly. He also picked the scaled creature as the ideal candidate to lead the Brexit negotiations after going back on his suggestion of Jon Snow and asking, poignantly, "How do you fix a fundamentally broken idea?"

"At least the Hound is realistic," said Dempsie of his choice to bring Britain out of the EU."

Quizzing them on some of their characters encounters over the years, the pair clearly remember some moments better than others. Anderson joked, "I need to watch this show again", to which Dempsie replied, "Clearly we both do."

Anderson was unable to remember the name of the slave traders who trained the Unsullied, or the punishment Daenerys gives Grey Worm for gambling. His suggested answer? "She said we couldn't have any milk," he laughed. "We had to miss dinner."

Forget Bloodmoon - Grey Worm and Gendry on the road is the Westeros spin-off the world needs to heal the post-Thrones trauma.
