After the success of Supersonic and that video where he showed us all how to make a cup of tea backstage, the announcement that Liam Gallagher would be the subject of another feature length documentary was inevitable.

As It Was will follow Liam through the process of making of his album 'As You Were', as well as revisiting Oasis and then the slightly lumpy years between the break-up of Oasis and now.

The arc does feel a bit "Needless to say, I had the last laugh", especially after first week sales for Liam's 'As You Were' beat Noel's last album by about 24,000, and has since gone platinum, but then again magnanimity has never been a big part of either Gallagher's outlook.

"As It Was is a documentary about my musical comeback," says Liam. "It covers the writing and recording of my first solo album, right through to playing it live for the very first time in my hometown of Manchester and around the world. I hope you enjoy the film... As You Were."

It's being directed by Charlie Lightening, a fellow Manc and filmmaker who's worked with Paul McCartney, Bjork, Kasabian and, er, Noel Gallagher, and he's understandably delighted to be on board.

"Having known Liam both personally and creatively over the past 10 years, to see him back where he should be, and to see the reaction to him once again has been amazing," he says.

"For Liam to let me in, to be there to capture it all, up close and personal and to tell the whole story in his own words makes for an amazing film - one of the greatest rock 'n' roll comebacks of all times, and you are there with him each step of the way."

There's no word yet on when it'll be out, alas, but it will be on show at Cannes.
