Emilia Clarke has credited her Game of Thrones role for giving her a feminist insight.

The actress, who plays Daenerys Targaryen in the HBO drama, told The Telegraph: "It's given me a real insight into what it feels like to be a woman who stands up to inequality and hate."

"And as [Daenerys] has become more empowered as a woman, you can't hide any more. You are adding to the voices that are going to make people realise an equal society is what we're aiming for."

Emilia is returning for the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones, which we now know will definitely not hit screens until 2019.

And while that's an awfully long time to keep spoilers from TV's most diehard fans, the Daenerys star has revealed the lengths HBO are going to in order to stop season eight leaks.

As well as a social media ban on set, it seems a "number of different endings" have also been written to prevent important leaks.

"We have a very strict social-media ban this year because people need to stop spoiling it for everyone," Emilia added. "It's really frustrating."

"They've written a number of different endings. So none of the cast know what the actual ending is. If there's ever a leak of any kind, don't believe it because it's probably not true."
