Damian Green has been ordered to resign as First Secretary of State after an investigation found he made misleading statements about pornographic images found on a parliament computer in his office in 2008.

Green, who was a key ally of Theresa May, maintains he did not use pornography on his office computers, but he agreed he had not been forthcoming in his statements made in November.

Following Green's resignation on Thursday night, David Davis is now being reminded of his threat to quit his position as Brexit Secretary.

Earlier in December, Davis shared his "fury" with Prime Minister over the behaviour of former Scotland Yard officers who he believed were trying to bring down Green, The Telegraph reported.

A friend of Davis and Green told The Evening Standard: "David would find it quite difficult to stay in his job and not resign if Damian was pushed out because of anything related to what happened 10 years ago."

Immediately after Green lost his job, many people took to Twitter to remind the Brexit Secretary of the promise he made just a few weeks ago.

There have also been calls for other members of May's cabinet to step down.

Green is among a number of British politicians who have stepped down or been forced out in recent weeks as a wave of allegations of sexual harassment has surfaced. His removal will cost May an important ally as she tries to balance competing visions of Brexit within her cabinet.
