John Krasinski's A Quiet Place debuted over the weekend and bagged itself rave reviews, alongside a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score.

The horror film was directed by Krasinski himself and stars the actor and his wife Emily Blunt as a couple trying to survive in an apocalyptic US one year after it is attacked by blind monsters with a particularly good sense of hearing.

The couple have two (surviving) children, one of whom is deaf herself, and together they must live a soundless existence in order to survive.

However, things get a lot more complicated when the couple find out they are expecting another child and must work out how to keep the newborn silent before its imminent arrival.

preview for A Quiet Place final trailer

A Quiet Place – which was previously tipped to be one of the best horror films of 2018 – made its unofficial premiere at the SXSW festival this weekend, where critics were given a first glimpse at the movie which will be released next month.

Following the showing, the film was reviewed by 18 critics on Rotten Tomatoes, who left it with an impressive 100% Fresh Tomatometer score ahead of its official release.

"A Quiet Place is a rare thing: a horror film from a major studio that blends high-concept with jump scares and manages to pull both of them off," said Film School Rejects.

"It's a really good horror movie," said RogerEbert.com.

Alright, we're sold.

A Quiet Place is in cinemas on 6 April.
