In quite a dramatic shift in tone from this pair, Scarlett Johansson and Taika Waititi are swapping superheroes for something a little more sedate in a brand new project.

Black Widow herself and Thor: Ragnarok director Waititi are believed to be working together on Fox's upcoming World War II film Jojo Rabbit, according to Variety.

About as far away from Ragnarok as you can get, Jojo Rabbit will follow a young German boy who finds out that his mother (Johansson) is hiding a Jewish girl in their home.

Fingers crossed this collaboration leads to a Taika-led solo Black Widow movie.

But while Scar-Jo spends a lot of time as Natasha Romanova kicking ass and saving the world, there are some softer sides to Black Widow that the actress can channel for the new film.

Which is something Scarlett hinted at while explaining the long-awaited outcome of Black Widow and Hulk's romance in Avengers: Infinity War.

Referring to their time apart while Hulk was blasted off into space – thanks, Taika – Scarlett said: "They've both had their own experiences separate of one another, and will always have a shared experience with one another but again, a lot of time has passed.

"I think they both kind of needed to see this sort of heroic decision the last time they saw one another, that they were going to sacrifice their own personal desire for the greater good.

"And that's happened, [so they've moved] on."

Before we see Scarlett in any kind of WWII drama, we'll be able to catch her in Avengers: Infinity War in UK cinemas on 26 April before it opens worldwide on 27 April.
