After months of speculation around the wedding guest list of the year, it has been confirmed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will not invite an official list of political leaders when they get married on 19 May.
While this means prime minister Theresa May and US president Donald Trump are not expected to attend the royal wedding, sources have said that former US president Barack Obama and his wife Michelle have also missed out on an invite.
"It has been decided that an official list of political leaders – both UK and international – is not required for Prince Harry and Ms Markle's wedding," a Kensington Palace spokesman said.
"Her Majesty's Government was consulted on this decision, which was taken by The Royal Household."
As Prince Harry and the Obamas have worked together on several occasions, including at the Invictus Games, it's thought that the former POTUS might have been invited to the nuptials.
However, it's believed that the guestlist will be limited to those who have a close relationship with the couple.
According to royal reporter Richard Palmer, this is partly due to the limited space inside St George's Chapel, but also because the prince is not the direct heir to the throne and therefore not obliged to host political figures.
Members of the public from around the UK have now learned that they will be among the 2,640 people in the grounds of Windsor Castle on the wedding day, the Palace has also confirmed.
The bride and groom-to-be have previously said they want to allow the public to feel part of their wedding celebrations.
