By Royalist hipster audiophiles rejoice: a recording of the Royal Wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be released in its entirety on vinyl.
Harry and Meghan’s service on 19 May will be released by Decca Records, on which their new label-mates will include Italian warbler Andrea Bocelli, soul behemoth Gregory Porter and serial rose-kisser Seal.
It’s out on 25 May, six days after the service. However, if you can’t wait that long to hear which bangers the English Chamber Orchestra drop, the album's out on streaming services on the day of the wedding.
According to Decca, the English Chamber Orchestra will be joined by Welsh soprano Elin Manahan Thomas, gospel group The Kingdom Choir, and the Choir of St George's Chapel, where the service will take place.
Veteran classical producer Anna Barry will be behind the mixing desk. Barry also produced Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding album 2011, and like that album, money from sales will go to the Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry.
The royals have a fairly mixed record when it comes to chart success. Princess Anne and Captain Mark Phillips’ wedding record hit number seven in December 1973, while the album of Prince Andrew’s marriage to Sarah Ferguson limped to number 55 in August 1986.
