Paul Feig has given fresh hope to a Ghostbusters reboot sequel.
The director, who helmed the notoriously divisive female-led comedy starring Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon, recently praised the film and said he would totally be up for making a second.
"We would love [to make another movie]; it's really up to the studio," Feig told Yahoo! Movies.
"We had so much fun making that movie."
The all-female Ghostbusters reboot was released in 2016, but even before then, it was hit with a ton of backlash from misogynists and trolls who couldn't hack seeing a woman handle a proton pack.
Feig himself has since addressed such controversy, previously revealing his belief that it was the film's negative criticism from trolls which led to its lack of cinema ticket sales.
In this case, we're in good conscience to agree with the comedy director, because - quite frankly - we loved that movie and so did Feig himself.
"The movie's just really built an audience in the two years since it's been out. I get contacted every day by people who are such fans of it, and so many women who are inspired by seeing women in science," he said.
"I will go to my grave so proud of that movie, and so proud of what that cast did in that film."
So, is there any chance we'll see a Ghostbusters 2?
Dan Aykroyd certainly doesn't think so, but original Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman has talked about potential sequels.
