Rambo 5 has got an official title and a new poster.

The film, which is targeting a 2019 release, unveiled its first teaser poster on Sunday ahead of the Cannes Film Festival.

Sylvester Stallone – who has played the titular role in every Rambo film thus far – later uploaded the poster to his Instagram account, revealing that the film will be called Rambo V.

The picture sees the shadowed outline of the notorious action hero digging a knife into the ground, with Sly teasing the arrival of "something wicked".

"Something wicked is coming this way," he said in the caption next to the image.

It's not known whether Sly will also return as director for the project, as he is busy with several other projects including The Expendables 4 – which reportedly begins shooting this summer – Escape Plan 2: Hades and Creed 2.

The actor was initially pegged to direct the second Creed film (the first was directed by Black Panther's Ryan Coogler).

However, he later dropped his directorial duties, handing the reins over to Steven Caple Jr.

Despite dropping out of the director's chair, Sly will still appear in the film, currently set for release in November, and reprise his role as Rocky Balboa.

So, with Rambo, The Expendables 4, Escape Plan 2 and Creed 2 all on their way, you should probably get used to seeing a lot of Sly on your screens, folks.

Rambo V is due for release in 2019.
