Game of Thrones might have finished shooting its final ever season ahead of its premiere next year, but Kit Harington attended the Toronto International Film Festival this week and he still looks suspiciously like Jon Snow.

Free-flowing hair and thick beard intact, the actor implied that he's not allowed to change his look quite yet until production officially gives him the go-ahead that no further reshoots are required for the HBO hit.

"We just finished filming. You can't tell because I look exactly the same," he joked to Entertainment Weekly. "They own me – they've just kept me like this."

Still, having been made to keep the same look for the best part of a decade, Harington does at least know where he wants to go next with his image – basically, about as far away from Westeros as possible.

"I'd like to step away and enjoy the obscurity, cut my hair, make myself less recognisable as the character, and go and do some other things with a completely new look and tone," he said in June.

"This role was brilliant, but I'll need to get rid of Jon Snow."

Harington was at the festival to promote his new movie, Xavier Dolan's drama The Death and Life of John F Donovan.

Also starring Natalie Portman, Susan Sarandon and Kathy Bates, it's about a young man's calculated reassessment of his infamous, and ultimately disastrous, childhood correspondence with an American TV star.
