Game of Thrones season 7 was on the whole a great season of TV, though there was one little thing that niggled at us (on top of the implausible travel timescale problems).

There was an obvious lack of Ghost, Jon Snow's loyal direwolf, and we were not happy one bit.

Well, we can all breathe a sigh of relief, as one of the show's special effects wizards has confirmed that Ghost will be in the upcoming final season, and then some.

"Oh, you'll see him again. He has a fair amount of screen time in season 8," VFX supervisor Joe Bauer told HuffPost. "He does show up.

"Ghost does show up, and he does some... he's very present and does some pretty cool things in season 8."

He also opened up about why there may have been a lack of direwolf action in season 7, admitting that their real-world counterparts are not the easiest to work with.

"The direwolves are tough because you don't want to get them wrong, so we end up always shooting real wolves and doing a scaling trick with them, but the real wolves only behave in certain ways," Bauer continued.

"I think that has something to do with why the direwolves are in the show but they're not maybe as integral as they are in the books."

Meanwhile, star Sophie Turner has been teasing the ending to season 8, admitting that it may divide fans.

"I think a lot of fans will be disappointed and a lot of fans will be over the moon, I think," she explained.
