Netflix is working on a selection of specials that will let viewers choose how storylines develop in their favourite TV shows.

The first is set for release before the end of the year, showcasing the revolutionary new tech in an episode of the fifth season of Emmy-award winning sci-fi Black Mirror.

Depending on its success, Netflix could roll-out the approach to other series, essentially blurring the line between TV and video games. Netflix has already used the technology within choose-your-own-adventure animated kids shows, and will implement it in the upcoming Minecraft series, based on the popular game.

Telltale games, famous for their adaptations of shows like The Walking Dead, are behind the movie, essentially reversing their creative model for the streaming giants.
