Charlie Brooker has quashed a fan theory about the fifth season of his sci-fi anthology Black Mirror.

Season five still has no official release date on Netflix, but anticipation for the show's return has been burning fiercely ever since commission. Now, the Black Mirror creator has been forced to silence a rumour on the nature of some forthcoming episodes.

With season three episode 'San Junipero' and season two's 'White Bear' being some of the considered fan-favourites, chatter about sequels has been rife among the show's followers and even Brooker himself.

However, according to The Wrap, Brooker recently took to Twitter to shut down a story about season five. He shared a tweet which read:

"The upcoming season of 'BLACK MIRROR' will expand on some existing stories from the show with 'White Bear' and 'San Junipero' both set to get sequel episodes. (Source: @Complex)."

Brooker then added a follow-up post stating: "Nope." Both tweets have since been deleted.

Previously speaking about the likeliness of re-entering the world of 'San Junipero', Brooker mentioned: "I wouldn't necessarily want to revisit those characters, because we're very happy with where they ended up and their story.

"But that's not to say that we couldn't revisit that world, if there was a compelling reason to do so."
