Netflix subscription prices are reasonable enough, especially when you consider that 99.9% of people are secretly piggybacking off their ex’s account.
That hasn’t stopped the streaming company from rolling out a cheaper deal in Malaysia, though. The lower cost subscription in costs around £3, which is less than half of the current price in the UK.
The catch? You can only watch shows and movies on your mobile. CEO Reed Hastings told Bloomberg last week that Netflix would be testing different cut-price deals in different markets, and a statement from the company said they will get the model “running in a few countries.” Depending on its success, it could soon reach Europe and North America.
According to Techcrunch, Netflix’s decision comes after streaming rivals in Asia successfully under-cut their pricing models, including India’s Hotstar, the Sky-owned iFlix and Viu.
