There's not been much out of Sony about it, but insiders say that the Playstation 5 definitely exists, its development is moving quickly and developers are already working the first games slated for release on it.

As GamesRadar reports, industry analyst Daniel Ahmad dropped into the gaming forum ResetEra and updated everyone on how far we are from the next generation of consoles. The answer: not nearly as far as you'd think.

Despite the almost complete silence from Sony on the subject, Ahmad said that "most of the focus for Sony 1P [first-party studios, or Sony's own game developers] is on PS5 right now". There are a few more PS4 games in the pipeline based on existing franchises, but there are talks about turning them into bridging games between the two generations.

"Sony also has a couple of unannounced games (already existing [intellectual property]) with PS4 in mind," he went on. "But I'm conscious that there have been discussions around making them cross-gen/next-gen titles."

GamesRadar adds that its own investigations show that the first round of PS5 games isn't likely to include anything that's made solely for the next generation console.

So how long are we going to have to wait until there's anything more solid? "PS5 dev kits are out there and I've heard positive things about it," Ahmad went on. "But I wouldn't expect any information in the immediate future."
